Health Equity in America: The Past, The Present, and the Future

December 2, 2020 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm

Join us for a conversation with award-winning journalist Linda Villarosa and Leandris Liburd, Ph.D., CDC’s associate director for minority health and health equity.

The pandemic illuminated racial disparities in COVID-19 related deaths, with Black, Hispanic, and Indigenous populations dying at more than double the rates of whites. But, health disparities are not new. From life expectancy to cancer, heart disease, and maternal and infant mortality, minority populations across the country have worse health outcomes.

This candid conversation will explore what can be done now to overcome the long-rooted structural barriers that prevent opportunity for all to achieve health and well-being.

This event is possible through the generous support of the CDC Foundation, as well as Georgia State University’s Andrew Young School of Policy Studies, Center for Law, Health & Society, School of Nursing, and School of Public Health.
