The American Public Health Association has declared that physical and psychological violence that is structurally mediated by the system of law enforcement results in deaths, injuries, trauma, and stress that disproportionately affect marginalized populations – communities of color, those with mental illness, disabilities, and others. These effects have been quantified through research and have recently been amplified in our community’s dialogue.
